Old Sylvain House Press is seeking submissions for an edited collection to be entitled Takes the Cake: A Variety of Treats Editors: Geraldine Cannon Becker & Jessica Boynton
Open for Submissions—Abstracts and Proposals: Questions for Your Engagement and Possible Topics for Consideration: Consider your own memories or moments in your own life when cake was part of the celebration. How was it presented? What kind of cake was it? Who made it? When you think of cake, what do you think of? How was it incorporated into the celebration? What is cake’s place or role in today’s society? Were any unique or traditional cake recipes passed down through your family? Were there particular cakes made for special occasions? Do you know any stories (real or fictional) to share about cakes? You might also consider its cultural and societal role or importance. Please send any unique family recipes, works of nonfiction, or works of fiction in which cake has been featured or is the primary focus. We are open to your thoughts or suggestions for submissions.

Include Takes the Cake: A Variety of Treats in your email subject line. Completed manuscripts (no more than 20 pages double-spaced, with references in MLA format). Please note that inclusion will depend on the strength and fit of the final piece. We have first publication rights.
Rights revert to the author after publication.
